ThumbJam

ThumbJam is a powerful,expressive,polyphonic musical instrument designed especially for iPhone and iPad,with over 40 high-quality sampled instruments (many are downloadable for free from inside the app). The keyboard can be tuned on any key and any of the many dozen of available scales,including many eastern ones. Available effects include delay,chorus,reverb,resonance lowpass filter. Pitch bending,tremolo,volume,and pan can be controlled by shaking or tilting the device.

You can create your own loops,use the built-in ones,download additional ones from the vendor’s website,layer multiple loops each one with a different instrument,can export the audio and MIDI version of each loop. Export formats include Ardour and Mixbus sessions. It is possible to create new instruments by sampling real instruments,either melodic or percussive.

Supports up to 11 simultaneous touches on the iPad (5 on the iPhone) and 24-voice polyphony,with the ability to split the keyboard and play two instruments at the same time. You can jam with friends nearby using ThumbJam,because it transmits tempo,key,and scale. Can be used as a MIDI or OSC controller,can record acoustic instruments through the built-in microphone,voice-to-pitch feature (i.e. you can control internal sound generator or external MIDI devices with your voice or an acoustic instrument).
