iPhone,iPad:A “Y”character in both these columns means that two different versions exist for this app,with slightly different names and (possibly) different features;A “Y”character only in the iPhone column means that this app only exists for iPhone,but it can be used also on the iPad;finally,a “U”character in both columns means that this is universal app,which automatically adapts itself to either the iPhone (and iPod Touch) or the iPad.
Free/Demo:A “D”character in this column means that a distinct free demo version exists for this application (tipically with a similar name plus a “Free”or “Lite”qualifier);an “F”character means that the application itself is free and can be used without any limitation or crippled feature,even though in some cases the app can be extended with in-app purchases (see below).
In App Purchase:a “√”symbol in this column indicates whether the app can be expanded by means of in-app purchases (or IAPs).
Background:this column indicates whether the app can work in background mode;tipically all apps that work with Virtual MIDI or Audiobus belong to this category.
Audio I/O:this column indicates whether the app accepts input from the built-in microphone or an external microphone such as iRig Mic,a guitar adapter such as iRig or AmpKit LiNK,or a mic adapter such as iRig PRE.
Core Audio:a “√”symbol in this column means that the app accepts audio input from Core Audio-compatible interfaces,such as Apogee Jam,Alesis iO Dock and Tascam iU2.
Core MIDI:this column indicates whether the app works with Core MIDI-compatible devices and keyboards,such as a USB device connected via the Camera Connection Kit (CCK,only for iPad) or a 2nd-generation MIDI interface such as Line6 Mobilizer 2 or iRig MIDI.
Core MIDI Clock:this column indicates whether the app honors Core MIDI clock signals to synchronize itself with other apps or external devices.
Virtual MIDI:a “√”symbol in this column means that the app can use the Virtual MIDI protocol to send or receive MIDI messages to other apps running on the same iOS device.
Audiobus:a non-empty cell in this column means that the app is compatible with Audiobus;the characters in the cell specify whether the app can work in the Input,Effect,or Output Audiobus slot.
WIST:a “√”symbol in this column means that the app can synchronize with other WIST-compatible apps or devices.
MIDI Learn:this column indicates whether you can “bind”a MIDI message -typically a NoteOn or a CC message -to this app,to remotely control some of its parameters,and that you can perform the “binding”by simply selecting the parameter in the app and then pressing a key or turning a knob in the controlling app or device.
Sonoma AudioCopy,Intua AudioCopy:these columns specify whether the app support copy and/or paste of audio/MIDI data using either the Sonoma or the Intua AudioCopy &Paste specifications. Please read the app manual to check whether only copy,only paste or both actions are supported.
AirPlay:a “√”symbol in this column means that the app supports AirPlay devices.
iCloud,SoundCloud,DropBox,FaceBook:these columns specify whether the app supports upload to iCloud,SoundCloud,DropBox or Facebook. (In the case of DropBox the app can tipically both upload and download from your DropBox account.)
Audio Open In,MIDI Open In:these columns specify whether you can load an audio or MIDI file,respectively,into the app using the “Open In”command from another app.
Export via Email:this column specifies whether the app can export data -typically audio or MIDI files -via email.
